Groom Speech – Make Sure You Don’t Say The Wrong Thing
When it comes to making people happy, forgetting to thank someone is one thing – but saying the wrong thing in a groom speech will be an absolute disaster! Thankfully I had thought about this and was sure I would avoid it, so looked up a some really great tips to help you avoid this embarrassing situation.
Making Your Bride Happy
The absolute worst thing you could do is to talk about previous girlfriends. This may seem quite obvious but from what I’ve seen there are people that actually do this! Even if you’re doing it with the intention of talking your new wife up, if she’s anything like mine is she will not appreciate it one little bot – especially on the most important day of the rest of her life!
You should always speak favourably of your bride – at all times! Though it may seem funny to you, to add a small joke believe me this is not the right time or place for it. In my groom speech I stuck to what I knew my new wife wanted me to say, and it worked a treat!
Alcohol
Even if you are the most prepared you could possibly be for your groom speeches, and I’m sure that’ll be better than I was, your worst enemy could be alcohol. This has the potential to bring anyone down, alcohol can make you say the wrong thing when you least expect it. I was totally aware of this and decided to hold off much drinking – at least until the speech was over that is and I’m glad I did!
A Few Other Tips
One thing that made the thought of groom speeches kind of stressful to me was the fact I didn’t plan far enough ahead. Not planning ahead means being a lot less in control of what you are going to say. Luckily for you there are now plenty of sources to help online for those who want even a funny groom wedding speech that doesn’t offend anyone (very important).
Lastly I want to say no matter how well you say things, going on and on for far too long isn’t going to go down well with your party. Try to work on your speech so it doesn’t take an hour to finish!
