Planning Groom Wedding Speeches

I always knew, and probably worried, that proposing to my then girlfriend would mean I would have to write groom speeches, but it never actually dawned on me just  how important groom speeches were going to be! If I’m truthful I left it far too long before starting on ideas for the biggest day of my life and even longer before I started actually writing the thing!

My first piece of advice would be please don’t make the same mistakes I did. Plan as far ahead as possible if you can and make your life easier – if only a little!

When I first started thinking about groom speeches it seemed a really challenging and hard task to complete. Like it’s not enough that you have to stand up in front of all those people and make the vows only to have to stand up again and make a biog speech, when everyone is looking at you it can very nerve-wracking, Especially if you’re not used to public speaking!

As the big day got closer and closer I tried to think of a charming, inspirational and funny groom wedding speech and it just wasn’t possible. After many hours of trying and throwing away scraps of paper  what  I eventually decided to do was to just sit down by myself and write some of the thoughts that came into my head.

Now, you have to believe me when I say that there are better ways to plan groom speeches, but this was great for kick starting my ideas and getting something useful down on paper.

At first I found it difficult, but when I started using speech prompts and some guides I quickly started to jot down bits of information about me and my future bride. Where we first met, how long we’d been together, some of our best and most memorable moments – things like that. It really helped me to put into words a  story of our time together and everything we had been through to get where we are today.

At this stage I think it’s probably best not to worry too much about the order or the content of what you’re writing down, or even the funny wedding speech jokes. The biggest stumbling block to getting the perfect grooms wedding speech is never starting to put pen to paper! So by getting down my thoughts I was already over the first but largest hurdle for my groom speeches.
