Funny Groom Speeches Tips

One of the most important parts of any groom speech is that it must be funny in places. It doesn’t need to be funny all the way through, but funny groom speeches are a great people-pleaser – so long as they are still to the point and more importantly do not offend anyone.

Even though I wanted to be a little funny in places, I still kept in mind that I had to be respectful of my guests. The father of the groom had his own speech to read, so I made sure to thank him for that and did not  tread on his toes or insult him or his daughter! I dread to imagine how any of those jokes would have gone down!

The Secret to a Humorous Speech

The use of humour in my personal groom speech really helped to make sure that everyone kept listening properly and not dozing off. I used it at different times to grab peoples attention and making sure they were focused on what I was saying. In my opinion, in a toast, the groom should be the centre of attention and keep it that way, as well as his bride, of course!

The best way to use this in my experience is to slip into your groom speech a few good jokes here and there. Say some emotional things, then add a little humour in to keep everyone relaxed, focused and more importantly awake! I was pretty nervous and maybe a little emotional, so this also really helped me as well as my guests!

Another great funny groom speeches tip I was told is to be informal and always interact with the audience. It is not a high school lecture – it’s a toast after all! The groom should always feel like he is having a conversation with an old friend, which if you think about it, is largely will be the case.

Make eye contact with the whole room, and don’t just fix your eyes in one direction or one person constantly. Practicing with friends really helped me, and also helped to improve the technique before the wedding day.

When it comes to funny groom speeches these tips will get you off in the right direction. For an even better idea, try using a few wedding speech examples.
